New week, new ransomware attack. This time, the ransomware is embedded in a program that was designed to protect you. Avast CCleaner has been internally infected by hackers. This impacts your Windows PCs and Android mobile devices.
The ransomware is a malicious, data-harvesting software that digest all the data on your PC and network servers. The affected versions of the free software are CCleaner 5.33.6162 and CCleaner Cloud 1.07.3191.
Avast recommends that you upgrade to Version 5.34 or higher, but we recommend to NOT use Avast CCleaner at all. The software has previously experienced another security breach that leaves the door open to hackers. Remove it today!
Our recommendation is use a paid service like Webroot or Sophos. Also, be sure that you have identity protection for you, your family, and your staff. We recommend and personally use IDShield.
